Department of Marine Engineering Operations

 

 

The Department of Marine Engineering Operations was established in 2008 and has started its activities with 50 students since 2009-2010 academic year in Naval Architecture and Marine Faculty.

 

The objective of Marine Engineering Operations Program at Yildiz Technical University is to train qualified Marine Operation Engineers for the needs of Turkey as well as the marine trade fleets of world.

 

Students are also offered double major opportunities through other undergraduate programs within the University. Courses can be taken from different departments if the course content and credit value are appropriate. At least 30% of the courses are given in English.

 

The most important aspect of Marine Engineering Operations Program is that a significant part of the education is practice-based.

 

Education activities are provided at the Yildiz Campus of Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul-Besiktas.

 

Students should be selected by Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) according to SAY points scores.

 

A graduate diploma will be awarded to the students after completing 1 (one) English language course and 4 (four) years undergraduate education.

 

Educational program in the Department of Marine Engineering Operations at Yildiz Technical University is appropriate for the curriculum of STCW 95 Convention as amended A-III / 1 and A-III / 2 at International Maritime Organization (IMO).

 

Students who want to work on ships after graduation should also be successful in the examinations prepared by Ship Man Test Center (GASM), which is affiliated by Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

 

Candidates who are successful in these exams will be entitled as an “Oceangoing watchkeeping engineer ".

 

 

Graduate students can perform tasks such as machinery inspection, personnel management, technical management and equipment engineering in shipbuilding after having work experiences in maritime industry.

-Floating power planet

-Istanbul sea buses, Bursa sea buses, cityline

-Ship survey board formed in ministry of communications, section on port authority

-Research ship the ministry of agriculture and rural affairs

-Scientific and technical research council of Turkey (TUBITAK) seismic exploration ship
